The product derives from the crushing of solidified lava of volcanic eruptions and is composed by reddish particles with 12-20 mm diameter. The porousness of the material guarantees on the one hand a proper capacity to hold water and nutrients and on the other hand the presence at any time of gaseous oxygen which is indispensable for the development and the growth of the root apparatus.
